Mikaela’s career with Shanahan Family Law is one built on progression. She originally joined the firm as a receptionist, gaining firsthand experience supporting clients from their very first interaction with the firm. As her interest in family law grew, so did her responsibilities. Through continued study, professional development and practical experience within the firm, Mikaela progressed into a Paralegal role and is now completing her Bachelor of Laws as she works towards her goal of becoming a solicitor.
That progression gives Mikaela a particularly valuable perspective on the client experience. She understands how a family law matter moves through the firm from the initial telephone call through to working alongside the legal team as the matter progresses. More importantly, she understands that behind every file is a person or family dealing with a significant period of change.
Working closely with the firm’s solicitors, Mikaela assists with the day to day progression of family law matters, client communication, preparation and management of legal documentation, and the detailed coordination required to keep matters moving. She is organised, dependable and accustomed to working in an environment where priorities can change quickly and attention to detail is essential.
Her developing legal knowledge, combined with practical experience gained within a busy family law practice, continues to strengthen the support she provides to both clients and the solicitors she works alongside. Mikaela is naturally curious about the law and committed to continuing to develop her technical skills as she progresses towards admission.

Outside the office, Mikaela is a proud mum to two young girls, an enthusiastic Caloundra Sharks supporter and a lifelong animal lover. Balancing motherhood, a career in family law and completing her law degree keeps life busy, but it is also an achievement of which she is particularly proud.
